ARMENIA. Artaxata. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 20 mm, 5.70 g, 1 h), CY 10 and TE 67 = 55/4 BC. Draped and turreted bust of the city-goddess to right; behind to left, linear pearled countermark. Rev. APTAΞICATωN MHTPOΠOΛEωC Nike advancing to left, holding wreath in her right hand and palm with her left; to left, I; to right, ZΞ. Kovacs 213. Rare and in exceptional condition for the issue. Somewhat smoothed, otherwise, good very fine.

The civic coins of Artaxata are dually dated to the Pompeian Era and the so-called Tigranid Era, which goes back to the accession of Tigranes I to the Armenian throne in 121 BC.
